How were Cosmetics originated?
Many women use cosmetics nowadays but does anybody know how were the cosmetics originated?
Egypt is considered as the origin country of cosmetics.It was almost 12 thousand years ago when the Ancient Egyptians discovered scented oils.Using cosmetics was an important part of their religion. People in Egypt used to apply eye liner, scented oils and other kinds of cosmetics to please their god.They used to think that cosmetics make people look good and that is necessary to please their god.
One notable point is that cosmetics at that time was not as colorful as modern period. Women used to color their lips with clay. Face powder was a mixture blended minerals and stones. Burned almonds were used to decorate eyes with black color.
After some times, the concept of using cosmetics had spread outside Egypt. In Rome, women were not considered beautiful without wearing cosmetics. Such thing was greatly used by wealthy people. Some country putted restriction on this matter. Like, in European countries, women were not allowed to apply cosmetics as it changes the original look of people. Only stage actors of those countries were allowed to do so but only at the time their performance.
Almost 6,000 types of cosmetics were used and developed in Egypt with the development of science and technology. Lipstick though originated in the East, was developed in Egypt.In England about 400 years ago,women used to take bath with wine,water and milk to make skin beautiful and look good. Roman people used to bleach hair by using a kind of soap.
