Invention of Perfume

   The word "Perfume" comes from the Latin word "Fumes" which   means "Smoke".In the early days,people used to burn nice smelling woods and leaves to create a nice smell.

  Arabians used rose water as a perfume.They were the first people who used perfume.They also used rose water as a medicine.

 Egyptians used perfume more than 5,000 years ago.Perfumes were  widely used in Rome also.

   Flowers like roses,Jasmine,Orange Blossoms and Jon Quits are the        source of some of our greatest perfume.Perfume also comes from      wood cedar wood,sandal wood.Leaves like lavender,peppermint and    geranium are also the sources of perfume.

  People are using perfume from many years ago.They made many         kinds of research on it.        

The names of some perfumes of the modern age are given below:

Acaciosa: A floral scent created by Ernest Daltroff in 1924. It is currently sold in the UK. It's main ingredients are orange flower, jasmine and rose.

Academia del profumo: An organization set up by the Italian perfume industry. In 1990, it won prestigious annual awards at an international level for the best female and male fragrances, fragrance packing and fragrance advertising. So, people must try this perfume.

Accenti: A quality female fragrance introduced by Gucci in 1995. It was created by Florasynth perfumers. It's ingredients are rose, jesmine, lily of the valley and clove, with vetiver, sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, tonka, peach and raspberry. The bottle of the perfume was designed by Alain de Mourgues.

Adidas: The largest sportswear company in the UK. In 1985, it's fragrance business issued a men's fragrance "Adidas". The fragrance business is now controlled by Coty. In 1994, under Coty, it issued two fragrances "Adidas Blue", a warm, chypre fragrance containing witch hazel for it's soothing effect, and "Adidas Green", a fresh citrus fragrance, containing menthol for coolness and vitality. These fragrances are very popular in this modern age.

Alpine rose: A rose like essential oil.It is collected from the roots of the Rusty leaved Alprose which grows in Alpine Europe. It is sometimes used to make perfumes.


Angel: A linear fragrance with a strong, quick impact. It includes caramel, vanilla and coumarin in the base, below a body of fruit and honey notes. The uncommon shape of the bottle is made by Brosse.

Animal perfume materials:  Sometimes, materials from animals are used to make perfumes like-

Sweet Hoof(marine snail)
Propolis(bee)
Musk(musk deer)
Hyraceum(hyrax)
Civet(civet cat)
Castoreum(beaver)
Ambergis(from the sperm whale)

Apel, David: A prominent perfumer who works for Givaudan-Roure. He invented many perfumes. His recent creations are "Sunflowers", "Escape for men", "Hugo", "Luciano Pavarotti and "Luciano Pavarotti Donna".


Apres L'Ondee: A classic, floral perfume which is created by Jacques Guerlain in 1906. It includes violet, orris, ambrette and heliotrope. It was designed to capture the cool, fresh feeling of the countryside on a warm day after a rain shower.


Aqua Angeli: A perfumed water. It was mainly made for King  Louis XIV of France(1638-1715)to scent his dresses. It was made of aloewood, nutmeg, clove, storax, bennoin, jasmine, orange, flower and musk. Perfumers used to boil all these things in rose water.


Baroque: A fruity floral fragrance for women. It contain mandarin, freesia, jasmine, stephanotis, apricot and amber. It was brought out by Yardley in 1996.
